"The Quartermaster"

Production Update, 02/10/2010

Cast:

Call-back auditions were held Monday, February 1.

These auditions will help to determine which actors

will fill one remaining lead role and two remaining

supporting roles, they serve as follow-up to the

initial auditions held the previous week, enabling

Director Jesse Daniel to narrow his options and

make the best possible casting decision about key

roles in the upcoming film. So far, the production

has formally hired eight actors and is in the

process of choosing two more.

Crew:

The production team of “The Quartermaster” is

expanding rapidly as students and faculty across

the JBU campus begin to gain interest in the

project. In the first week of February alone the

production has hired three Russian translators,

two production photographers, two camera operators

and a graphic designer. Some positions that still

need to be filled include Editors, Production Assistants,

Gaffers, Sound Technicians and additional volunteers

for a PR team.

Equipment:

“The Quartermaster” will be the first COAST film to

be shot entirely on digital SLR cameras. Using

this cutting-edge technology, in combination with

the innovative Redrock Micro System (provided by

the Digital Media Department at JBU), the

filmmakers will be able to shoot in the very best

high-definition video, with all the advantages of a

flexible, handheld camera system.

Schedule:

In order to make the most of the available time

frame, the producers of “The Quartermaster” are

fast-tracking the production schedule, and plan to

begin principle photography on 02/11/2010.

Although production is already well underway,

additional help is still welcomed.

Calling all Creatives (for SFS film production)

Hello, Creatives!
Because a movie is the great culmination of every single art form, we know that we need you and your unique creative skills to make this new production a success.
COAST's (Communication Art STudents) cinema branch, SFS (or Student Filmmakers Society), is in the midst of their first annual short film. Last semester was spent writing the script and some other pre-production stuff. This semester we have some of the finishing pre-production work to do before shooting principle photography (filming the scenes) as soon as possible in February, in time for post production by the end of March. This short will be ready in time for the Arties/Student Works Show in April, so we have a lot of exciting work to do.

"The film is set in a Russian speaking country and follows a smuggler through his missions, determination, fears, and dedication to the cause he is aiding. The story involves suspense, fear, and faith. Although this film includes Christian elements our goal is not to produce a preachy 'Christian' film. We aim to produce a film that will be recognized for its good story and quality production value."

Crew Needed for Short Production

Next Semester COAST is producing the winning film from the Pitch Competition.  We are looking to fill some lead positions to help us kick things off next semester.  All interested should contact Andrew Armstrong (producer) at armstrongR@jbu.edu. When submitting for the job please include the best time for a brief face to face meeting/interview before leaving for the holidays.  The positions we're seeking to fill are below.

Art Director
     o Oversees three major areas: wardrobe, sets, and props.  Responsibilities will include directing a production design team and communicating with the director and/or DP to achieve his desired visual style for the production.

Associate Producer
     o Oversees the marketing of the film.  Responsibilities will include public relations, directing a marketing team during production and preparing all materials for festival submissions.

UPM (Unit Production Manager)
     o Organizes the production, responsible for coordinating schedules and planning production days.  Responsibilities include communicating with the whole production team regarding schedules and arranging the production to fit within its overall schedule.
