SWS Theme decided!

Traditionally every year to keep the 2 separate awards separate, we give them their own identities/themes.  And this year's Student Works Show theme has just been unveiled...  vintage Pop (Comic) Art!

It gives a nod to the early 1960s vintage black-tie theme of the Arties, but keeps the two distinctly different.  Plus the student works show gallery always lends itself to be a little more hip & spunky/edgy ;)


If you're still trying to figure out how the Arties are different from the SWS, we've laid it out exactly for you...check out the info in the new Facebook Event, to explain what these events are all about.  While you're there, RSVP to let us know you'll be there, and invite JBU friends & family too!

Arties/SWS: Dates, Times

Just an up date on new confirmed details...

Student Works Show submissions accepted between February 9th-11th (Wed-Fri.).  The Student Works will all be hung in the gellary which opens Feb. 17th.
All entries are $5, and $3 for COAST members.  Check back soon for some more specifics on changes to the Cinema category this year.
Any student can submit multiple works, that are original & created after last year's SWS.

The SWS Gallery Reception will be from 6-7p, before the Arties award ceremony, at 7:30p in the downtown Community Building.  The SWS & Arties winners are announced at the big event- Thursday night, March 10th.

This year's Arties theme is "Vintage Black-tie"...late '50s/'60s.  You know, 'frocks' & fedoras.  For inspiration think Mad Men, or even the wardrobe of White Collar's Neal Caffrey, for the guys.

SWS / ARTIES just around the Corner!

Just an 'early' reminder to start working on your pieces to submit to the Student Works Show held every Spring semester.

Every Spring COAST puts on a Student Works Show where any student can submit as many pieces of original art work from that year, as they'd like.  They all get judged by professionals in the fields, and every piece is exhibited in the Art Building's Gallery for one big student Art Show.  Plus there are always big cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places of each art category!

This year's SWS Gallery exhibit is a little earlier than usual: February 17th - March 18th, 2011.  The deadline to submit your art will be even earlier, so that there is plenty of time to judge before getting it put up in the Gallery.  
So start spreading the word now, and working on the pieces you'll want to enter for those big prizes!

And don't forget the big cherry on top. It's all wrapped up with the big ARTIES award ceremony event where the SWS winners will also be announced & the prizes distributed.  A really fun, exciting event for the whole creative JBU community!

Script Competition Winner
